About
Say it li-BEL-la
A small studio that builds websites to a written scope, then keeps them.
The name
Libella is Latin for the small tool a Roman mason held against a course of stone to see whether it ran true: a frame, a plumb line, and a mark the line should meet. It's the diminutive of libra, the balance, and it's where our word "level" comes from.
That's the job we want for a studio: a small instrument that tells you whether the thing is true.
Who
Libella Studio is a web studio in Texas, founded by Dyllan. Whoever scopes your site builds it and keeps it: they answer your email and get the alert if it goes down. Nothing you tell us in the first call is lost to a hand-off.
How we work
Habits you'll see from the first email.
Every build starts with a written scope and one fixed price: half to start the build, half on launch day. Anything outside the scope is quoted first, at $150 an hour, before any work starts. Sites are built on Clinamen, our own catalog of motion components, and run on Cloudflare. After launch the care plan keeps them hosted, updated and watched; a year of Essentials care comes with the build.
- 01We quote once, in writing.
One scope and one price, and it holds unless you change the scope.
- 02We say no early, and say why.
Within one business day. If we're not the right fit, you'll hear it plainly, with somewhere better if we know one.
- 03The person who builds it keeps it.
You're never handed to someone you haven't met.
- 04We show the reading.
A check every five minutes, a review every quarter, and a status page anyone can open.
- 05You can leave with everything.
On thirty days' notice: the code, the hosting account and every login. The site keeps running.
Libella Studio was formerly nxsi. The guides are still here, at the same addresses.
We build it true, then we keep it that way.
